Nunn Hayward joins SportsAid’s Bucks Sporting Lunch Club

As a local business, we were delighted to join the Sport’sAid Bucks Sporting Lunch Club in 2017.

The Bucks Sporting Lunch Club was created in 2011 and are sponsored by Buckinghamshire based businesses wishing to contribute to the success of young athletes.  Local individuals, businesses and Trusts often want to support talented athletes, but until now there has been no easy way to do this.

The Bucks Sporting Lunch Clubs are designed to help aspiring local Olympians/Paralympians achieve their sporting dreams through the charity SportsAid. SportsAid are the National Charity for sport, who working with the governing bodies of sport, support over 2000 talented young sports people each year

Our first event was in April and we were thrilled when we discovered that the event would be hosted by Dame Katherine Grainger from the world of rowing. Katherine is the most decorated female Team GB athlete in history with 5 medals from 5 different Olympics (2000-2016).

Not only that, Dorney Lake has receieved a £2m investment and has been revamped. These are also surroundings that Katherine knows well.

This event awarded Longridge Canoe Club’s Georgia Carmichael, 15 from Bourne End in Buckinghamshire £1,000.  Georgia said that  she will use her donation towards the travel costs involved with competing and a new boat bag.  The money may also help towards buying a new changing tent at Longridge Canoe Club after their last one got blown away by Storm Doris.

Her commitment to the sport impressed the SportsAid trustees, particularly with her two hour training regime most days.
